Programs for PROFESSIONALS

A SPECIAL STEP is a uniquely designed program tailored to meet your child's needs. The SPECIAL STEP is offered during the summer and winter vacations and is designed as an intensive intervention program for children in the Miami vicinity and in neighboring cities and countries. The intervention is available in English and in Spanish.

Your child's SPECIAL STEP is designed by our Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Academic Specialists. (If your child is currently receiving intervention and you would like the goals designed by your current professional team to be continued, we will certainly include those goals in your child's program.) Depending on your child's needs s/he may be scheduled for speech and/or language therapy, occupational therapy, sensory integration therapy, academic tutoring, computer based instruction, self-help development, activity and movement and/or applied behavior intervention.

A SPECIAL STEP program is designed based on a current assessment performed by our professional staff. This assessment process will include assessment in speech, language, oral motor, occupational therapy, and academics. The SPECIAL STEP assessment is performed a minimum of two months prior to when the program is desired to be initiated. A SPECIAL STEP program will be offered for your child ONLY if it is felt that our Center has the resources to implement a program that would best serve your child's needs.

A SPECIAL STEP program may be scheduled a minimum of two weeks. Your child is scheduled a minimum of two hours per day with a maximum of six hours per day depending on his/her needs.

At the end of your child's intervention program you will be sent a list of suggested goals, ideas and/or recommendations based on our work with your child.
