The First
Step™ Program: The FIRST STEP was created by Wendy Nottoli
in 1993 to provide a language-based program, which promotes communication,
language, cognitive, independence and social development with our
Autism Spectrum Disordered population.
PECS / Alternative Communication: PICTURE EXCHANGE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (PECS) The PECS program is designed for children who are not able to use verbal communication at this time. This augmentative communication system allows the child to make requests and communicate their needs and desires with significant others.
HAP: HAP stand for Home-After Program. HAP is designed to integrate generalization of information and communication learned during the FIRST STEP program to other environments
that child lives and plays in.
