03/13/2007
"It Takes Two to Talk"

The HANEN Parent Training Class is a Parent training program designed to teach parents how to enjoy and encourage communication with their child. The HANEN Parent Program is specifically designed for parents of young children who have been diagnosed with delayed speech and language development. Our parent training is a family focused approach to language intervention. It is based on the knowledge that parents can be their childs best facilitators of communication when the parents maximize language learning opportunities in everyday situations. Our program is designed to provide group parent training, individual guidance with child and parents as well as an opportunity to meet and share concerns and experiences with other parents sharing the same challenges. Our HANEN parent groups meet for four sessions for a total of 8 hours of training. Additionally, parents and their children will participate in one individualized video taped and coaching session with our HANEN trained Speech and Language Pathologist, Wendy Nottoli. The video taped session allows the parents to integrate the concepts learned during our group sessions while interacting with their child everyday. Each program is limited to eight families. This insures our ability to provide individualized, focused attention on each child and their family needs. The dates for the HANEN Parent training are April 19th 2007, April 26th 2007, May 3rd 2007, and May 10th 2007.
