Behavior Management Therapy enhances an individual’s quality of life with proactive intervention strategies. Research has shown that phonological awareness is the best predictor of success in reading. Research has also shown that this ability to identify and manipulate the sounds of language can actually be developed through systematic instructions.
In our schools, emphasis is placed on reading and writing, yet when it comes to handwriting our focus is lost. Countless students can’t write legibly. What’s more, our children find the physical act of handwriting daunting. They are confused about how to form letters. They clutch their pencils until their hands hurt. So much effort is placed on the mechanics of writing that our children get bogged down and find it impossible to compose sentences much less write paragraphs!
Interactive Metronome® (IM) is a therapeutic assessment and training program that improves attention, concentration, motor planning and sequencing. Improvements in those areas result in stronger motor control and coordination, enhanced balance and gait, and improved language and cognition.
The Little Steps Big Rewards program is designed to facilitate social interaction, play development, emergent literacy, language development, and phonemic awareness. It is a program designed to guide our children with communication challenges to feel more confident while learning the necessary skills to succeed in a natural environment.
Myofunctional Therapy is a regimen designed to correct orofacial muscle imbalance and abnormal swallowing patterns. Dental practitioners have long been concerned about the effect of the dental form on orofacial muscle function and the function of the orofacial muscles on dental form.
